Nicola holds a BSc in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary and an MSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta. Since graduating in 2021, she has lived across BC and AB, working with people with a variety of diagnoses and ages, from 1 to 101 years old! She has found her passion in pediatrics and feels fortunate to establish her practice in the beautiful East Kootenays - a place she has called home for the last two years. Nicola believes that the best therapy comes from incorporating the child's interests into sessions to make OT meaningful and fun for all! She is committed to fully understanding each child's unique neuro and sensory differences to provide the highest quality service. In her spare time, Nicola enjoys spending time with her wobbly cat, Turtle, and exploring the local trails on foot, bike, and skis!

Mentoring Occupational Therapist
Jennifer Sexton

Jennifer Sexton has been an occupational therapist for thirty eight years. Her motto "Believing in the pOTential of every child" says it all. Her fundamental belief that all children will change when provided with the right input, at the right level for the right amount of time, will support a child reach their potential, in a playful and fun-filled manner. She is passionate about sharing knowledge and regularly runs workshops that support parents and therapists develop their own knowledge of how best to support their child. She has been a direct mentor to Nicola since spring 2023, and is continuing to provide her with indirect mentorship as Jennifer enters "retirement."

Sarah Bouvier
BKin, MScOT
Sarah earned her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Mount Royal University, followed by a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alberta. Sarah has always been passionate about working with kids and has supported children aged 3 months to 16 years in a wide range of clinical contexts.
She has worked with children diagnosed with a broad spectrum of conditions, including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Rett syndrome, and other rare genetic disorders. Sarah is deeply committed to the field of pediatric occupational therapy and is passionate about supporting children and their families in achieving their goals.
Her therapeutic approach is grounded in creativity and individualized care. She strives to make sessions engaging, purposeful, and tailored to each child’s unique strengths and needs.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. Her hobbies include running, strength training, biking, hiking, skiing, and Pilates.

If you’ve spent any time in Kimberley, chances are you’ve seen Sabrina Park around town. A long-time resident and familiar face in the community, Sabrina loves taking full advantage of everything this beautiful area has to offer—from snowboarding at the local hills to early morning hikes, afternoon golf, and fly fishing in the peaceful stretches of the Kootenays.
Known for her approachable nature, strong organizational skills, and commitment to quality care, Sabrina brings over a dozen years of experience in clinic operations and administration. She plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day flow of healthcare services, helping ensure things run smoothly for both staff and clients alike.
Working collaboratively with our local Creekside Physiotherapy Clinic, Sabrina is excited to extend her knowledge and experience to support all aspects of care across the Kimberley region.

Skylar Derech

Skylar completed her bachelor's degree in Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan) and then completed her Masters of Occupational Therapy from the University of British Columbia. Skylar has had multiple experiences working with children in a variety of environments, including instructing swim lessons, and coaching a broad range of age and abilities with rock climbing. Skylar understands that children deserve to feel safe and secure in their environment in order to experience the world and explore new or existing family/ child goals . She will continue to learn and integrate every unique child's needs to provide "child-centered" care. Skylar is Cranbrook raised and is excited to be providing quality service to the area she grew up in. Skylar loves the outdoors and spends time running, fly fishing, paddle boarding, cross country skiing or spending time reading a good book.

Kim Giesbrecht

Kim recently relocated to the Kootenay region from Edmonton, Alberta, bringing with her over 20 years of experience in pediatric occupational therapy. She has worked in diverse settings including schools, hospitals, and community-based programs, and is
deeply passionate about supporting children and their families. Throughout her career, Kim has provided comprehensive OT services for children with a wide range of complex needs. She also has
extensive experience in pediatric hand therapy and splinting for both acute injuries and congenital differences in hand development. Kim has a special interest in the area of feeding, including picky eating and feeding difficulties. She integrates her developmental expertise with a neurodiversity-affirming approach to offer families supportive and practical strategies that promote positive and
enjoyable mealtimes. At the heart of Kim’s practice is her commitment to helping children and their families build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in the activities and routines that
matter most to them. Outside of work, Kim enjoys mountain biking, hiking, skiing, reading, and spending quality time with her family.
